Caste, Covid vaccination: Centre notifies 40 questions for Census Phase 2 starting next month

The Centre on Friday notified 40 questions that respondents will be asked during the second phase of the Census, the population enumeration phase, with caste and the place of Covid vaccination among them. The exercise is set to begin from September 1 in snow-bound areas, according to a government order.Data collection for the Census-2027 underway in Ranchi on Saturday. (ANI)The population enumeration in Ladakh and snow-bound non-synchronous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will be conducted from September 1 to 30, according to a gazette notification issued earlier this month.In the rest of the country, the population enumeration (PE) will begin next year. These cover basic household facilities, details about the head of the household, including their name and sex, and the property's ownership status.
