Carson Hocevar is in North Wilkesboro now, preparing for Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and Sunday’s Cup Series race. But he’s fresh off being in NYC for the Time 100 Sports Gala. Hocevar was one of many honored at the gala by Time Magazine as being among the most influential in sports. Those in attendance, however, weren’t limited to just the sports world. The Spire star snapped photos with LeBron James and Prince Harry at the event. He talked about his experience with LeBron. Hanging out with LeBron “It was fun, said Hocevar. “Yeah, there was a lot of cool people. LeBron walked by, and I was like, ‘Man, should I get a photo?’ And then I was like, ‘No.’” “I walked over, and he was outside the table and everything, and so I sat at a table far away from him. And some guy came up to ask for a seat, and he happened to know who I was, and I knew him. He’s like, ‘Hey, I’m taking this seat over to LeBron, why don’t you walk over?’ “I walked over, and you could tell his security guards just started to swarm in. All of a sudden, the guy put his hand up. That’s when LeBron stood up, took his glasses off, and then we talked for a while. I was like, ‘Man, I got to get a photo.’ “So, it was cool. And then Prince Harry and stuff, I told him I wouldn’t make my mom proud if I didn’t ask for a photo.” LeBron James knew who Hocevar was. The two had a real conversation, according to Hocevar. “Yeah, he mentioned that his trainer, his kid races and is starting to get into big cars and stuff in Charlotte.” Prince Harry was a little bit of a different story While LeBron knew who Hocevar was, Prince Harry was a bit of a different story. That made no difference to Hocevar, though. His mom is a big fan of the Royal Family and especially the late Lady Diana. “No, LeBron and I actually had a conversation. Prince Harry, I went over to him real late, and I just kind of introduced myself to him. He asked what my name was. “We said about three words. I was like, ‘Man, you’re going to make my mom’s day if I get a photo with you.’ He laughed. “After the photo, he’s just like, hopefully I did your mom proud or whatever and made her day. So no, that one was short. But LeBron was the longest conversation I had.” Back to the track A day later, Hocevar was back ripping around North Wilkesboro. He had the fastest time in practice on Friday. Later in qualifying, Hocevar was edged out by Truck Series points leader Layne Riggs for the pole in Saturday’s race. The Faith Fest 250 gets underway at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. It will be televised on FS1. You can also stream on the Fox One app.
