‘Carrick would love him’ – Marcus Rashford tipped to make astonishing return to Man Utd fold by club legend

However, Brown, 46, insists Rashford would make for a great addition after his stunning Barcelona stint last season and his World Cup displays with the Three Lions this summer. The former defender expects United manager Michael Carrick would welcome him back with open arms. The Red Devils icon is also confident the club and Rashford can patch things up after a falling out under former manager Ruben Amorim. Brown told SunSport on behalf of LiveFootballTickets: “I’m sure Michael Carrick would love him back because it gives him another option. If he could come into the scene this season, that helps out massively. “I’m still not sure what’s going to happen, but I think if it was just up to Michael, he would definitely be back in. Obviously Marcus would have loved to have probably stayed at Barca. “They went another way, so I’m not sure what other options there is really. For me, it’s always time. It’s just the way it is. I think it’ll be a boost for Michael for him to be here next season. “He’s on a lot of money, Marcus, so I think that’s the only point that may make a move more difficult. “He’s a great player. His spells in the World Cup were showing it as well. It’s a decision everyone’s going to have to come to very soon.” United have also been looking to bulk up in midfield during the summer transfer window. Man Utd missed out on the likes of Elliot Anderson, who joined rivals Manchester City, as well as Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, who went to Tottenham, while Ederson’s move collapsed after a failed medical. The Manchester giants have already signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. But the Red Devils are looking for even more reinforcement and are currently linked with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni, Roma’s Manu Kone and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott. And Brown would prefer Scott, 22, who turned down a new contract from the Cherries with his current deal running out in 2028. However, the England hero insists his former club should only go for the ex-Bristol City star if the price is “right”. Bournemouth currently ask for £80m in an attempt to deter interested clubs, like Premier League foes Chelsea and Arsenal. Brown added: “I don’t think they’re going to rush into that, if I’m being quite honest. I like the way that we’ve done the signings. “Alex Scott won’t be signing a new Bournemouth contract. “So, if they feel that the price is right, then, yeah. I think in the past we’ve jumped into stuff and probably paid an overprice for players. “I’m not going to say he’s the perfect person but at the same time, if the money’s right, then I don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to help the team, but I think they’ve done well on getting two to be fair, to start with.” Comment now
