The culture, the people are very different. “Where I’m at is a very Mexican area and they’re still very friendly, super duper friendly. “Like, you’re walking down the street and they’re saying hello to you. “And the people out here are just so friendly, they’re very, very friendly and very helpful and very kind. So I’m really enjoying it. “They’re asking me how I’m doing and wishing me well. So I feel very included and I feel very accepted out here. “I don’t feel uncomfortable, I don’t feel lonely or anything. I feel very happy and I guess I am kind of a person who’s comfortable being on her own. Never been like that. “So I’m comfortable being on my own, being in my own space and my own personal space.” Dubois has been sure to make the most of the Mexican cuisine on the West Coast – in the most calorie-friendly way. She said: “I’ve tried to keep it as clean and as healthy as possible. “I think the only thing that I’ve really had has been tacos. The soft shell ones, I’ve enjoyed those, they’ve been nice and I quite like it.” Despite gushing over her new American lifestyle – Dubois is missing a good cup of coffee after blasting the quality Stateside. She laughed: “I’ve missed the coffee. Americans do not know how to make coffee. God, they’re terrible! Trainer Manny Robles is now coaching Dubois in LA Credit: Instagram “They have not hacked it and it’s a problem. It’s a problem. I’m gonna have to bring some coffee back out when I come out again. It’s a problem.” Dubois’ new coach Robles famously cornered Ruiz, 36, to victory over Anthony Joshua, also 36, in 2019. And the pair are back together ahead of Ruiz’s return to the ring on September 4 in New Jersey. Dubois said: “I’ve seen him at the gym. Yes, I’ve seen him spar a few times and yeah, he’s really friendly, really nice.” The 25-year-old Londoner had an excellent relationship with trainer McGuigan and the rest of her former gym. I don’t want to ever retire and be like, ‘Oh yeah, Caroline was a b***h’ or whatnot. “I want them to obviously maybe disagree with my opinion or disagree with what I feel, but to respect me as an athlete and respect what I am doing, why I do it. “Respect my decisions and respect that at the end of the day, I just want to taste greatness. “I want to feel what that looks like, I want to see what that looks like. And just understand and respect that I am so desperate to get there. “And if you can’t help someone, you just wish them well and wish them the best. “And to be honest, Shane was very understanding and we spoke on multiple occasions in person, of course. Dubois says she is still on good terms with McGuigan Credit: Getty “And when the day came where I finally told him that I wanted to try something else. “I spoke to him in person and again, we kept it very respectful.” Dubois returns on Saturday in Birmingham against Amelia Moore – with unification bouts and superfights in her sights afterwards. She said: “In no particular order, I become undisputed world champion. “I become undisputed world champion, and I have a big fight with Alycia Baumgardner. “I think that for me is the dream, and that is the end of this year. And after this fight, I have one more fight on my contract. “We shook hands with Stephanie Han, I wanna hold her to it, you know? “That’s unification or whether Alycia has still got the title, I become undisputed against her and then I fight Baumgardner. That is the plan.” Comment now
