Carole Radziwill Says Carolyn Bessette Kennedy Would’ve Loved ‘Real Housewives of New York City’: “She Had a Great Sense of Humor”

Carole Radziwill is reflecting on what her late best friend, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, would have thought of her time on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City. During a segment on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen Tuesday night following the season 16 premiere of RHONY, a fan asked Radziwill whether she still agrees with comments she made to the Daily Mail in 2019, when she said she believed Bessette Kennedy would have enjoyed her original appearance on the show and may have even made a cameo. “Yes, I do,” Radziwill responded. “I think she would have gotten a kick out of my RHONY career. For sure.”But when it came to whether the former Calvin Klein publicist and wife of John F. Kennedy Jr. would have made an appearance on the show, the Housewife quipped, “No!” with a laugh, adding, “but she would’ve loved it.” “She had such a great sense of humor about things, about life,” Radziwill added of Bessette Kennedy. “She would have gotten a kick out of it.” Andy Cohen then chimed in, “You being on RHONY was a circumstance of your circumstance. Had your husband lived, I don’t believe you ever would have. So, it really was a moment where you were at a crossroads in your life from what I recall.” Radziwill was married to Anthony Radziwill, a cousin and close friend of JFK Jr., for five years until he died in 1999 from a rare cancer — just three weeks after JFK Jr., Bessette Kennedy and her sister Lauren Bessette died in a plane crash. The tragic romance between Kennedy Jr. and Bessette Kennedy was also the subject of Ryan Murphy’s limited anthology series Love Story earlier this year. While Anthony was included in the series, Carole was left out. Love Story is nominated for seven Emmys on Monday night, including outstanding limited or anthology series.
