Cardi B Gives ‘Sad’ Update on Luxury Bag Collection: She ‘F–kin Lost’ Her Beloved Birkin Esmeralda

Fans should respect her privacy at this time. Cardi B performs onstage at the BET Awards 2026 held at Peacock Theater on June 28, 2026, in Los Angeles. Christopher Polk/Billboard Trending on Billboard Cardi B likes dollars, diamonds, stunting and shining, but as many of her fans know, she loves her designer bags. That’s why the rapper’s recent update about one Hermès Birkin she’d named Esmeralda is so shocking. In response to a fan who’d posted on X that Cardi should “bring Esmeralda back out,” the Grammy winner wrote Wednesday (Oct. 14), “I f-vkin lost her.” “Its the only bag missing,” she added. “I think I left her in a hotel and I’m so sad about it.” The original post also included an older video seemingly taken when Cardi first got the leathery brown Birkin. “She’s exotic. She’s the moment,” the hip-hop star says while posing with the purse. “Her name is Esmeralda.” As fans in the comments pointed out, whoever happened to find Esmeralda pretty much struck gold, as far as luxury handbags go. Birkins are extremely pricy, ranging in cost in the tens-of-thousands of dollars ballpark. Fortunately, Cardi is well stocked on Birkins. Just recently, she shared a haul of new purses she’d acquired over the span of a few weeks, which included three of the signature Hermès styles. In May, she told followers that her Birkin collection was 40 purses strong. It makes sense that she’d have trouble tracking down where she might’ve left Esmerelda behind, given how booked and busy Cardi’s been recently. The artist spent February through April on her Little Miss Drama Tour, which took her all over North America and grossed more than $70 million across 453,000 tickets sold, according to Billboard Boxscore. She also recently took a trip to Italy, where she walked in the Vogue World fashion show alongside Jennifer Lopez, mgk and more stars. In August, Cardi dropped single “AH HA,” which debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Before that, she topped the Billboard 200 with sophomore album Am I the Drama? last year.
