Capital One Adds New Airline Partner With 30% Bonus—Book Emirates Business Class Without Fuel Surcharges

All of a sudden Panamanian airline Copa is taking U.S. points transfer programs by storm. Did not have that on my 2026 bingo card! Capital One has added Copa Airlines ConnectMiles as a transfer partner, opening another way to book Emirates business class without fuel surcharges. They’re offering a 30% transfer bonus to launch the partnership, too. But even with that bonus, you’ll get fewer Copa miles than Citi and Rove offer at their regular rates. Beginning November 2, Capital One miles transfer to Copa at 2:1.5. That’s 750 ConnectMiles for every 1,000 Capital One miles. The 30% bonus runs through December 1, 2026, bringing the effective rate to 975 ConnectMiles per 1,000 miles transferred. I like seeing Capital One expand its partner list again. They haven’t done so in a year! I just wish they weren’t quite so tight with the transfer ratio. Citi Added Copa Last Week, Following Rove I covered Rove adding Copa on September 1. Their regular transfer rate is 1:1, and they launched with a 40% bonus through September 30. That meant 1,000 Rove miles became 1,400 Copa miles. Then Citi added ConnectMiles on October 25: Citi Strata Elite, Strata Premier, Prestige and AT&T Access More cardholders receive 1,000 Copa miles per 1,000 ThankYou points. Other eligible ThankYou cards, including the no annual fee Citi Strata, Double Cash and Custom Cash cards, transfer 1,000 points to 700 Copa miles. Here’s how the three programs compare today: Transfer From Copa Miles Per 1,000 Points Rove 1,000 Citi, with an eligible premium card 1,000 Citi, other eligible cards 700 Capital One, regular rate 750 Capital One, with 30% bonus through December 1 975 Capital One’s bonus nearly gets you to 1:1. Transfer 10,000 Capital One miles and receive 9,750 Copa miles during the promotion. Marriott Bonvoy also transfers to Copa at 3:1, with the usual 5,000-mile bonus for transferring 60,000 points. That’s 25,000 Copa miles for 60,000 Marriott points. When Rove added Copa, I liked having access to a program that the big U.S. bank currencies didn’t offer. Two months later, Citi and Capital One have followed. Rove’s 40% launch bonus is over, but their ordinary rate still beats Capital One’s promotional rate. The Value In Copa Miles Transfers Copa is a Star Alliance airline based in Panama. Its miles can book United Airlines and other alliance partners, but the redemption I flagged in September was Emirates. Emirates business class from the U.S. to Dubai for 80,000 miles one way, without carrier-imposed surcharges. Taxes and other applicable fees apply. United Airlines premium transcontinental business class for 25,000 miles one way when saver award space is available to Copa. Copa economy awards starting at 15,000 miles one way from its North America 1 region to Panama, Central America, parts of the Caribbean and northern South America. Capital One Now Has 23 Transfer Partners Capital One’s last additions were Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, Qatar Airways Privilege Club and I Prefer Hotel Rewards on September 23, 2025. It’s been more than a year, so it’s good to see them adding another option. Here’s the complete current list. These are the standard transfer ratios, before temporary bonuses, expressed as Capital One miles to partner miles or points. Transfer Partner Standard Ratio Aeromexico Rewards 1:1 Air Canada Aeroplan 1:1 Air France-KLM Flying Blue 1:1 Avianca LifeMiles 1:1 British Airways Club 1:1 Cathay Pacific Asia Miles 1:1 Copa Airlines ConnectMiles 2:1.5 Emirates Skywards 2:1.5 Etihad Guest 1:1 EVA Air Infinity MileageLands 2:1.5 Finnair Plus 1:1 Japan Airlines Mileage Bank 2:1.5 JetBlue TrueBlue 5:3 Qantas Frequent Flyer 1:1 Qatar Airways Privilege Club 1:1 Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer 1:1 TAP Air Portugal Miles&Go 1:1 Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles 1:1 Virgin Red 1:1 Accor Live Limitless 2:1 Choice Privileges 1:1 I Prefer Hotel Rewards 1:2 Wyndham Rewards 1:1 Capital One manages the economics of its rewards program tightly. They give you 750 Japan Airlines miles per 1,000 Capital One miles, and half as many I Prefer points as Citi offers with its premium cards. Copa is another useful partner, but with a less generous conversion rate. At the regular Copa ratio, earning 2 Capital One miles per dollar on Venture X spending means earning 1.5 Copa miles per dollar. Citi Double Cash earns 2 ThankYou points per dollar on purchases as you buy and pay, and pairing it with an eligible premium ThankYou card gets you 2 Copa miles per dollar. Topics on this page
