One of life’s great pleasures is a spa day. But between busy work schedules, social lives and family commitments, booking a spa day can feel impossible. Enter the Shark FacialPro – a game-changer for skincare lovers looking to see spa-level results at home. While my skin appears clear and smooth, it has an array of issues that are only hidden by a strict skincare routine. I’ve got very sensitive skin and eczema that are both easily irritated when I switch up my routine or use any harsh tools on my face. With this in mind, I was sceptical about an at-home facial device. However, the FacialPro has elements designed specifically for sensitive skin. The multi-step skincare device is designed to bring spa-style hydrodermabrasion, pore extraction, hydration, and contrast therapy into an at-home routine. It uses vortex-style suction and water/solution flow combined with wide and T-zone tips (with separate normal and gentle options) to clear dead skin cells, excess sebum, and impurities into a waste (“gunk”) tank. The device also comes with the DePuffi hot and cold attachment, which features six temperature levels (“Instant Heat” to prep skin, boost circulation, and aid relaxation, alongside Insta Chill/cold settings to calm inflammation, depuff under-eyes, and lock in moisture). To help glide the device effortlessly across skin while hydrating, you also get two skincare formulas, Derm Detox (AHA/BHA exfoliating gel) and Hydro Infuse hydrating treatments, developed with Korean skincare labs using vegan and cruelty-free ingredients. How I testedThe tool comes with an exfoliation attachment and depuffing attachments, plus serums Hansveni Dave/The StandardIn the box, you get a leaflet that shows you step by step how to use the device and what to do for specific results. For this test, I trialled The Daily Depuffing Routine and The Weekly Glow Routine. The former uses the Instachill and Instaheat settings on the Depuffi attachment; you can depuff to sculpt and boost radiance daily. The latter uses the exfoliation attachment to smooth, brighten, exfoliate, extract and hydrate your skin weekly. I ensured there were no products on my face prior to testing the facial device, and that I hadn’t done any extractions or facials in the run-up to the test. I wanted my skin to be as normal as possible for me. Shark★★★★☆What we love: This device gives you glowing skin, clean pores and hydrated skin after just one use. Take note: Even with the gentle tip options, sensitive skin will be initially irritated. I began with the The Daily Depuffing Routine: something on this particular morning, I really needed. The Instachill does exactly what the name implies; the device instantly became cool and glided along my skin effortlessly, depuffing my tired skin. My skin before using the Shark FacialPro Glow + DePuffi At-Home Hydro-Powered Facial SystemHansveni Dave/The StandardI then switched the setting to Instaheat and did a four-minute session to encourage lymphatic flow. You can’t see any immediate results with this setting – but like any lymphatic draining routine, my neck, shoulders and jaw felt noticeably less tight after using it. I can see this being implemented into my evening routine after a long day. Left: Depuffi attachment. Right: exfoliation attachment.Hansveni Dave/The StandardThe Daily Depuffing Routine was impressive but did not feel like something new to me. However, the weekly pro glow routine was something I’ve never done outside of a spa before. I began with the Derm Detox product – an AHA+BHA that is supposed to gently dissolve impurities and left it on for three minutes. My skin after doing the The Daily Depuffing RoutineHansveni Dave/The StandardFollowing that, I filled up the device with water, attached the gentle wide tip and then the T-zone tip and did a three-minute exfoliation and extraction session. Despite using the gentle tips, it's important to note that my skin was irritated quickly and was left with red lines from the suction, so don’t use this device if you’re heading out soon after. Hansveni Dave/The StandardAfter the exfoliation step, you fill the tank with Hydro Infuse and repeat similar motions to the previous step. My skin after the three minutes was left feeling plump, very hydrated and looked visibly brightened in comparison to the before pictures. My Skin 10 minutes after doing the The Daily Depuffing Routine Hansveni Dave/The StandardThe ‘gunk’ tank after using the facial device had a cloudy mixture inside. While I do believe a lot of that has to do with the Hydro Infuse and Derm Detox solutions mixing into the water, you can see that some of it is dirt extracted from my skin. After close inspection of my skin and my problem areas, my T-zone, I can see that blackheads and clogged pores are no more. Left: Before using the facial device. It feels easy to use, compact, and it gives you similar results to a spa facial. Since trialling it, I’ve found it a great device to use towards the end of the day if you have been out and about in the city.
