The hearth is the beating heart of hatted Anchovy’s casual sibling, grilling bread and meat for banh mi by day, smoke lightly perfuming extra-crackly roasted pork belly and luring passersby.Herbaceous Laotian sausage and Vietnamese charcuterie are among the many items made in-house by chef Thi Le and her team. Other fillings include tinned sardines braised in a spicy tomato sauce and reinvigorated by the brightness of fresh dill and red onion.By night, bread makes way for broken rice served with grilled hanger steak and lacy fried eggs; a quietly brilliant match for a salted-lime soda. Service can be choppy, but guess what? You’re getting Chef of the Year quality at chain-restaurant prices.Good Food reviews are booked anonymously and paid independently.
