BYD’s luxury brand, Denza, calls it “the king of large 5-seater pure electric vehicles.” The new Denza N8 electric SUV will launch next week, offering an impressive CLTC driving range of over 1,000 km (621 miles), massive digital screens, and plenty of premium extras. BYD sets Denza N8 EV launch date After opening pre-orders for the new 5-seat luxury electric SUV last week, Li Hui, Denza’s general manager, said the results so far “have been excellent.” According to Li, the Denza N8 is “definitely the most anticipated luxury SUV of the year.” Using BYD’s second-generation Blade Batteries, the Denza N8 EV has a pure electric CLTC range of up to 1,003 km (623 miles) on a single charge. That’s just as much as the N8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) it’s replacing, which offered a combined CLTC range of 1,003 km (623 miles) on a full tank of gas and a full charge. While Li confirmed last week that the new EV variant would go on sale in November, he didn’t give a specific date. Now, it’s official. Denza announced on its Weibo page on Friday that the launch event for the Denza N8 EV will be held on November 12, 2026. BYD is still offering a limited-time promo that includes a 5,000 RMB credit for those who place a reservation with a 2,000 RMB ($200) deposit. The Denza N8 measures 5,150 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,820 mm high, with a 3,075 mm wheelbase. That’s slightly longer than the Kia EV9 and Hyundai IONIQ 9. It’s available with a single rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or a tri-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrain. The RWD version uses a single motor producing either 320 kW (429 hp) or 370 kW (496 hp). The tri-motor Denza N8 uses BYD’s e3 platform. The setup includes three electric motors: a 270 kW (362 hp) front motor and two 310 kW (416 hp) rear motors, for a combined output of 890 kW (1,193 hp). Regulatory filings earlier this year revealed it will use either a 130.15 kWh or 105.79 kWh BYD Blade 2.0 battery, offering a CLTC range of up to 1,003 km (623 miles) and 800 km (497 miles), respectively. It takes just nine minutes to go from 10% to 97%. Inside, the five-seat electric SUV features a massive 30″ infotainment screen that spans nearly the entire passenger-side dashboard, plus a new 43″ (1.1 meter) panoramic head-up display (PHUD) at the bottom of the windshield. Like most of its new luxury vehicles, the Denza N8 is loaded with BYD’s latest software and technology. Added premium features include zero-gravity seating in all rows, a three-spoke steering wheel, wireless phone chargers, and ambient lighting. The electric SUV is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR to support BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 intelligent driving assistance system, plus its DiSus-A intelligent air suspension system. BYD has yet to announce prices for the Denza N8 EV, but it will likely be slightly less than the N8L, an extended version that starts at 299,800 RMB ($45,000).
