Published October 20, 2026 07:48 AM The NFL has a new all-time record holder for highest career passer rating: Brock Purdy. As of Monday night, Purdy has the highest passer rating in NFL history, at 105.6. To qualify for the official career record, a player needs to have thrown at least 1,500 passes in his NFL career, and on Monday night Purdy topped the 1,500-attempt mark, giving him the passer rating record. In all, Purdy has completed 1,038 of 1,524 passes for 13,145 yards, with 98 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. The record previously belonged to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has a career passer rating of 102.7. He’s followed by Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers at 101.8, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow at 101.3 and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at 100.8. Purdy will probably keep the record for a while, as he’s far enough ahead of the pack that no one would surpass him unless he has a disastrous end to the season while one of those quarterbacks behind him puts up record-setting numbers. There are also no other quarterbacks who are close to 1,500 pass attempts whose passer rating could surpass Purdy.Passer rating is determined by a complex formula that combines completion percentage, yards per pass, touchdown percentage and interception percentage. The NFL adopted it as the league’s official statistic for ranking passers in 1973. It’s far from a perfect method of ranking quarterbacks — it ignores first downs, sacks, fumbles, rushing and other measurements of a player’s quality — but as a rough gauge of how well a quarterback is playing, it’s not bad. And it ranks Purdy ahead of every quarterback, ever.
