Elisabeth-Jane Ross is believed to have entered Greece through Cyprus – as police seek to trace her final movements. A criminal investigation has been launched after the suitcase was found in a run-down part of the Kypseli neighbourhood by a homeless man on July 18. He followed a bad smell into an abandoned building where he found the suitcase with what looked like a ‘human limb’ poking out, according to local reports. Her body was found wrapped in cloth and placed in a bin bag inside the suitcase. A forensic examination of her body showed no obvious injuries or signs of struggle. The family of Elisabeth have been notified of the discovery of her body Police suspect she was ‘lured’ to the location by a ‘homeless person’ authorities told The Times. It is thought the Edinburgh native had been dead for around eight days before she was discovered. She was described as being 5ft 4in tall with auburn hair gathered back in a bun. She was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts but had no tattoos or other distinguishing marks. An investigation was launched to identify the body, with fingerprints and DNA samples taken and analysed. Authorities told local media they were treating her death ‘as a criminal act, given how the body was found’. Her father has been informed of her death as detectives try to figure out her last known movements and the people she was with. Police will establish whether she travelled to Greece alone or with a group with the airline. At the same time, they will see whether there was a reservation at a hotel with her details.
