The teen is said to have drowned yesterday afternoon while swimming from an island to the shore. The young man was reportedly visiting Lake Cauma, near Flims, with his family when the tragedy struck. Alarm was raised at about 5.45pm local time when the tourist got into difficulty and went under between the island and the sunbathing area. Other beachgoers saw him and rushed to his aid on paddle boards and swimming, Swiss daily Tages Anzeiger reports. Members of the public are said to have pulled him from the water and brought him to the shore, where resuscitation started immediately by medical professionals who happened to be at the lake. He was then airlifted to the Cantonal Hospital in Chur, Graubünden, located around 13 miles from the Alpine lake, where he died the same evening. An investigation into the incident has been launched by the cantonal police and the public prosecutor’s office. Metro has approached the Foreign Office for a comment.
