British shoe chain ramps up closing down sale with discounts of up to 60% off as it shutters 17 stores

A BRITISH shoe chain is offering discounts of up to 60% off as it ramps up closing down sales ahead of shutting 17 sites for good. Shoppers have a chance to score huge discounts on trainers, heels and even kids shoes. The chain is offering discounts of up to 50% off in some instances Credit: Getty – Contributor Wynsors World of Shoes is closing down over a dozen branches after its private equity owners Modella warned of rent and job cuts earlier this summer. Closing down sales have been launched across the affected stores, with many of the branches slashing prices further as they look to shift stock before they close for good. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! That includes its branch in Crewe, which is offering discounts of up to 60% on hiking boots and up to 50% off other footwear. Meanwhile, in Wynsors Gateshead the store is offering 50% off children’s bags, with prices as low as £3. It is also now offering 40% off girls boots. And in Rochdale an “everything must go” sale has been launched with offers of up to 50% in store. Exact dates of when the sites will shutter for good, remain unclear. A statement from the group, previously read: “It’s with sadness that we announce that certain Wynsors stores will be closing their doors. “We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have shopped with us and supported the store over the years. Shoe Zone closed a branch in Tooting High Street earlier this week, with residents calling it a “real shame” Meanwhile, up to 150 TG Jones stores are at risk of closure, after the chain was rebranded from WH Smith last year.
