BRITISH Museum-goers were left fuming after a sudden evacuation of the building, despite queuing hours to see the Bayeux Tapestry. One person said: “Hope everyone’s okay. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! “Disappointing for those of who spent an hour and forty minutes after our ticketed time queuing to see the Bayeux Tapestry to get to reach it, and then were told to leave.” Another said: “I was at the British Museum when they started shouting “Emergency” and “Fire” and hustled us all outside.” A third said: “1.5hrs in a queue and now just evacuated from Bayeux Tapestry & British Museum. “So upset.” The Bayeux Tapestry display opened to visitors in London on September 10.
