See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 13:14 EDT, 2 September 2026 | Updated: 13:14 EDT, 2 September 2026 A British mother was stabbed to death with scissors 'in front of her four-year-old son by the child's father', it has been reported.Her child, who turned four years old today, remains in hospital after the incident at the family-friendly Alfagar Alto Da Colina aparthotel resort in Albufeira just before 7pm yesterday.The youngster is said to have been hospitalised overnight after suffering a leg injury as the violence which led to yesterday evening's murder flared in his parents' four-star hotel room.Hotel workers and other guests rushed to aid the traumatised little boy as his mother lay dying after being stabbed multiple times in the couple's room and then again in the corridor as she tried to flee.She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, as sources confirmed today the weapon used to kill the unnamed UK tourist was a pair of scissors.The suspect was later arrested at the hotel.Blood on the walls of the holidaymakers' hotel room and the walls and a window of the second-floor corridor where the horror stabbing unfolded was still visible late into the night as police forensic experts wearing protective suits took photos of the murder scene.Portuguese TV broadcaster TVI reported at lunchtime the couple's child had turned four today, with sources close to the case confirming he was four but saying they couldn't comment on the tragic birthday claim.
