British meat brand with over 4million customers collapses into administration as rescue plans fall through

A BRITISH online food retailer has fallen into administration after one of the key lenders in its rescue plan went in a different direction. The company’s CEO also attempted to explain the many complaints the company has faced in recent months. Muscle Food has been hit by a slew of complaints by customers in recent months Credit: Getty Muscle Food’s CEO Nick Preston confirmed this week that the online retailer of meat and high protein meals has fallen on hard times. Speaking to The Grocer, Nick admitted that he was “devastated” by the turn of events and admitted the company had dealt with many delivery issues this year, as well as a host of other problems. He said: “At this stage I cannot say too much, but I will make a full statement in due course about the actions of the lender along with the further comments around operations and courier.” Preston also stated he was hopeful he would be able to turn things around but multiple setbacks has resulted in the coming falling into administration. He continued: “We brought Begbies Traynor in at the start of June to support us through a debt restructuring project that fitted with our plans for FY28. “Everything was going fine until one of our current lenders took a different path. “This is an incredibly difficult time for all involved, not just at Muscle Food but for all our suppliers and customers who have felt the impact of these actions. “I am devastated. Just when it appeared we were coming through the other side, a series of damaging setbacks over a sustained period of time left the business in a very precarious position.” Most read in Money Without naming individuals, he implied that the issues the company had been facing are not whole heartedly its fault. He added: “If anyone looks at what has happened to our Trustpilot reviews since early May I think there is a clear pattern as to where accountability falls. “We had overcome so many challenges, the team have been unbelievable, and we had strong plans for the future.” Comment now
