A BELOVED UK fashion chain with over 380 locations has announced the sudden closure of one of its high street stores, leaving fans gutted. Bonmarché has abruptly shut its Bridport, Dorset location after just three years in the town. Bonmarché is closing down another of its high street stores in the latest blow to the fashion chain Credit: PA:Press Association Shoppers were disappointed to see a sign in the store’s window stating “we are closed”. The store had only been open since summer 2023, when it took over from fashion chain M&Co. The chain, which was founded in West Yorkshire in 1982, offers clothing aimed at older women in sizes 10-28. Responding to the news, locals took to social media to share their devastation about the closure. One wrote on Facebook: “Oh no, get most of my clothes in there. So sorry for the staff they are lovely and very helpful.” Another said: “What a shame! Both for the lovely staff and for Bridport, which is gradually losing it’s reputation of being a lovely little town – more like a ghost town.” It’s not the first closure for the chain this year, after a Bonmarché store in Birchwood Shopping Centre in Warrington, Cheshire shut its doors in March.
