British clothing chain with over 170 UK locations permanently closes store leaving shoppers ‘gutted’

A MAJOR fashion retailer has closed one of its stores after holding a closing down sale to shift as much stock as possible. Locals spotted a notice in the window last month confirming the closure and took to social media to share how “gutted” they were by the loss. A notice in the shop window read: “Thank you for shopping in our Ipswich store. Our last day here is September 5, 2026.” Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Images shared on social media also showed the store had a sale to sell as much stock as possible before closing. The brand was founded in 1988 and sold a wide range of women’s and men’s clothing and accessories. Fans of the retailer took to Facebook to express their frustration at seeing another brand leave the high street. One user wrote: “I feel for the staff there. They seemed very subdued a couple of weeks ago when I last went in. “Now I know why. It was one of the few stores they operate that had more than the usual token men’s section.” Another added: “Might as well just put housing in town now, not really any shops left.” Most read in Money With a third writing: “Bit gutted as it was English owned and non-American clothes, best jeans ever.
