He is based near London, UK. Few airline networks remain the same, with changes regularly seen. In 2026, British Airways has started, will start, or will resume service from London to seven destinations globally, with a further three markets to welcome the carrier in early 2027. More places will be announced in due course. This article simply summarizes the oneworld member's network development. Excluded are routes that have simply switched from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to London Gatwick Airport (LGW) or vice versa, of which there are several. However, whether fairly or not, places that saw BA earlier this year, but which were then removed only to be announced again, are featured. BA's Ten New & Returning Destinations In 2026 & 2027 This article revolves around specific destinations joining or rejoining BA's network. The airline's schedule submission to OAG for 2025 was compared to what is scheduled for 2026 and through summer 2027. This reflects what is known as of October 5 and will almost inevitably change in the coming months. London City Airport is present too, which is good to see. Brand-new markets and those that return after a very long absence are particularly noteworthy. In this sense, well over half of the additions (including Kilimanjaro, Melbourne, Rovaniemi, St. Louis, Tivat, Toulon, and Zanzibar) fit the bill. In the early New Year, BA will once again fly to Melbourne, having last done so in 2006. The airline will return soon after fellow oneworld carrier Finnair debuts in Victoria. Meanwhile, Qantas will reintroduce a same-plane, same-flight-number service from Melbourne to LHR via Perth soon after BA arrives. Start Or Resumption Date (2026 Through 2027) From LHR Or LGW? The airline last flew there in 2013, when it served Dar es Salaam, which is the largest city but not the capital. The Boeing 767-300ER was deployed. This route revolved around the diaspora and still remains unserved. Things will be very different next year. BA will not return to Dar es Salaam, but rather focus on the increasingly popular leisure destinations of Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar. Speaking to Simple Flying, Behramjee Ghadially, senior network planner, industry commentator, and African specialist, said: "The local demand alone between London and the two destinations was 90,000 round-trip passengers last year without any nonstop or direct service. This should be easily stimulated by 40% or more in its first year of service. They are not low-yielding backpacker markets, but rather medium to high-yielding places (especially Kilimanjaro for safaris). I expect the new route will exceed all internal assumptions and be extended to a year-round service in the first year." BA Has Already Grown Frequencies To St. Louis Credit: Flickr There are various ways of telling if a new route is doing well. They include adding more flights, upgauging the aircraft, and extending the operating period, whether to a year-round service or starting earlier in the year or finishing later. A route that does not do any of these things, even after a few years, might be worrying: just ask Icelandair about flights to Halifax. BA to St. Louis is not in this position. Despite starting on April 19, 2026, with four weekly departures, the carrier has already confirmed that the route's frequency will increase in 2027. Five weekly flights to a daily operation are scheduled for April, followed by a daily service in May and June, and five weekly departures in July and August. The route will also resume on March 28, three weeks earlier than the first season. The 787-8 will still be flown.
