THE public’s favourite used car of the last decade has been crowned after a survey of over 1,000 drivers. CarGurus polled drivers aged 27 and over to reveal a decade of shifting car buying habits. These other two cars are SUVs, while the Volkswagen Golf is a hatchback – the body style named as the overall favourite among used car buyers. Hatchbacks got 28% of the vote, 21% of people went for medium SUVs and 15% favoured small SUVs. CarGurus also took note of the nation’s favourite in-car technology. Favourite innovations include 360-degree cameras (30%) and parking assist systems (28%), keyless entry and push-button start also rank highly (25%). When asked what makes a car their favourite, 62% cited reliability, 55% chose style, and 52% prioritised value for money. Chris Knapman, editorial director at CarGurus UK, said: “Over the past decade, the Volkswagen Golf has consistently proven itself to be one of the nation’s favourites.
