Britain’s biggest gym chain eyes up another 750 locations in massive expansion

A MAJOR gym brand has revealed plans to open another 750 locations in huge expansion plans. The gym brand has already opened 17 sites this year and plans to significantly eclipse this number by the end of the year. PureGym intends to reach 750 locations in the coming years Credit: Getty PureGym has stated it wants to open a total of 60 new locations by the end of the year claimed it has “significant runway” for further expansion. The Leeds-headquartered company has said over the next few years it wants to increase its total number of locations globally from 728 to 750. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Of the 17 new gyms opened over the first half of the year, 15 were in the UK. Regarding the company‘s country breakdown, it has 467 in the UK, 128 in Denmark, 49 in Switzerland and 61 in the US, as well as a franchise agreement in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to the location expansions in 2026, the gym has also been adding more women’s workout spaces. The acceleration of this expansion was in response to “positive reception to these dedicated training spaces designed to boost female members’ comfort and confidence”. PureGym’s chief executive Alex Wood explained the future is looking bright for the company going forward. “The long-term fundamentals of our sector remain extremely attractive.“Consumers are placing ever greater importance on their health and wellbeing, while the increasing availability of convenient and affordable gyms is bringing more people into fitness.
