Britain’s ‘best vanilla ice cream maker’ announces ‘upsetting’ closure after 106 years in ‘end of an era’

AN AWARD-winning ice cream maker dating back 106 years has announced that it will close for good. Customers have called the closure “the end of an era”, praising the “hidden gem” shop for its service over the years. The business has been passed on from generation to generation since 1920, but keeping Tarr’s Ice Cream open was ultimately too difficult for the small family. The ice cream makers have been crowned the Most Successful UK Ice Cream Manufacturer, Bristol’s Family Business of the Year in 2018, and has been crowned as having the Best Vanilla Ice Cream over 20 times. The Tarr’s team has told customers that the store will not close until all the ingredients and stock is used up, suggesting it will remain open throughout September, October and potentially November. Customers have been sharing their dismay at the news of Tarr’s Ice Cream’s closure, with one calling “such a great loss to Brislington”.
