Brit tourist, 41, found dead at Phuket hotel by staff who went into his room on day holidaymaker was due to check out

A BRITISH tourist has been found dead in a Thai hotel room after a “Do Not Disturb” sign was left hanging on his door for several days. Horrified staff made the grim discovery after entering his room on Monday morning when he was due to check out. It is understood that no one had entered the room for several days as employees respected the sign. On Monday, the manager of the hotel in Patong went to check on the UK national but received no response. He opened the door before finding the Brit dead inside at approximately 11am. Police and emergency services rushed to the scene. There were reportedly no signs of a break-in or struggle, according to local media. The tourist is understood to have died 12 to 24 hours before his body was discovered, a forensic doctor ruled. Most read in The Sun But authorities are conducting a full autopsy to determine the exact circumstances of his death. His body has been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for examination. It comes after a retired British engineer was found dead in his room in Thailand just days after divorcing his Thai wife. The 74-year-old had been bedridden for months as he lived alone in rural Nan province in the north of the country. The Brit, a former aviation engineer from Southport, was relying on his wife’s relatives for daily care and meals. But he was discovered dead in May, just days after finalising the divorce.
