Brit rapper Yung Filly NOT GUILTY of raping fan, 20, after gig in Australia nearly two years after arrest

BRIT rapper Yung Filly has been found not guilty of raping a fan nearly two years after his high-profile arrest in Australia. The 30-year-old was accused of sexually assaulting the woman, then aged 20, in a Perth hotel room in September 2024. The YouTuber was also found not guilty fon or one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and also for strangulation. Barrientos was found guilty for two counts of assault after more than 10 hours of deliberations from the a jury of 12. The social media star will remain on bail until August 21 when the court will decide a sentencing date for the assaults. Prosecutors will also make a final decision on the hung jury verdicts and whether or not to press charges on those. Before the verdict, prosecutor Danielle Clarke described the rapper as an “entitled man” with a “moderate degree of fame” who subjected an impressionable young woman to sexual violence. The complainant, who was 20 at the time of the alleged attack, cannot be identified for legal reasons. Most read in Showbiz “She meant nothing to him,” Clarke told the court. “What could have been and should have been consensual sex quickly escalated into sexual violence and a non-consensual nightmare.” The rapper admitted biting the woman on her face, neck and breasts during the encounter. “In England we would call it a love bite,” he told the court. “There was kissing in between; I would give her a love bite and then kiss her. I don’t recall any blood.” Jurors were shown photographs of the woman with bruising and bite marks on her face and neck. A bite wound to her right breast reportedly ended up requiring a tetanus shot. Barrientos denied the woman repeatedly told him to stop or that he forced her to continue having sex after she withdrew consent. Defence barrister David Edwardson argued the complainant’s account was “riddled with inconsistencies, embellishments and outright lies”. He rejected suggestions she had fallen victim to a powerful celebrity, telling the jury she went to the hotel “of her own free will”. “She was an adult, and she was perfectly capable of making her own decisions about what she would and wouldn’t do,” he said. Barrientos said he met the woman at a Perth nightclub following his performance. “I was standing in the VIP (area) and she was standing in the general area and she leant over a barrier and said something to me,” he told the court. “I fancied her and we got chatting. “The vibes were good and she had a really good energy about her.” Prosecutors alleged the woman initially consented to sex but withdrew that consent when she became fearful for her safety. Barrientos also admitted his bodyguard took the woman’s phone before she entered the hotel room, but denied it was done to prevent her from leaving. “It is standard practice for someone in the limelight to protect privacy,” he said. The Colombian-born entertainer had been touring Australia, performing in Sydney and Melbourne before arriving in Perth. He was arrested several days later in Brisbane, where the tour had been due to conclude. Comment now
