A BRIT mum who was abducted in broad daylight has been found safe as family praised the “hero” cop who took a bullet to save her in a dramatic rescue. Now a dramatic rescue by the Malawi police force has saved Nusrat and found her “safe and sound”. Dr Noel Kayira was shot while saving mum-of-two Nusrat Jiwa Osman from the clutches of her abductors on Thursday. After six agonising days of waiting, her overjoyed family have poured out their relief and said they are “deeply grateful” to the Malawi police force. Nusrat’s younger brother Shobi Jiwa told The Sun: “The only thanks that we can give is to the Malawi police, who went out all out in their own investigation.” Speaking of Dr Noel Kayira who took a bullet to save his sister, he said: “He is the hero of our family. He’s the hero of the country. “He’s the hero of the world, actually, for putting his life at risk and taking a bullet into himself for my sister.” Most read in The Sun The heroic Deputy Inspector General of the Malawi Police has been rushed to hospital and is currently in surgery, according to Shobi. In a statement following the rescue, the family wrote that the officer’s “courage, selflessness and dedication to protecting the lives of Malawians will never be forgotten”. The exact circumstances of the dramatic rescue operation are still unclear and it is not known if the police made any arrests. Inspector General Richard Luhanga, the head of the Malawi police, said more details would be released in a later statement. Brit mum Nusrat, who works as an auditor, is “smiling” and, miraculously, “not too shaken” after the terrifying capture on Friday, said her brother. Describing his sister, Shobi said: “She’s a humble soul and a beautiful person.” Previously, police offered a £12,800 reward for any “credible” information about her whereabouts or the suspects who abducted her. Devastated loved ones had no idea why the mum-of-two was taken. Shobi said that his sister’s case had been the latest in a string of kidnappings in Malawi. “There have been four similar cases” he said. “This is the first time a woman has been abducted.” Comment now
