The young boy, locally reported to be three, but understood by The Sun to be two, was declared dead as he arrived in hospital after the horrifying fall from a fourth- floor window. His Brit banker dad had begged to be released so that he could explain the tragedy to his young daughter and appeared emotional in court. The two-year-old’s sister had only been told that her brother was in hospital and did not yet understand that he would never be coming home. The dad was expected to be let out of police custody on Wednesday but the release was blocked at the last minute. He then had to tell his daughter the tragic news over Facetime. Most read in The Sun The two-year-old was described as “deeply adored” and “a truly special, easy–going little boy who brought so much joy to everyone around him”. Paphos police said “a quantity of alcohol” had been found in the dad’s blood during testing. The small quantity of alcohol, reportedly equivalent to one or two drinks, was revealed after cops said the dad’s toxicology report had come back clean. Investigators believe the boy’s dad and grandad were waiting for a lift to go to dinner when the tragedy occurred. The dad was holding the child around his waist and swinging him from side to side as they waited, the court heard last week. He then allegedly fell through his dad’s arms and tumbled through a window to his death from the hotel in Chloraka. The 4ft wide, 8ft tall window could have been open without the father’s knowledge, investigators said. If convicted, the dad could face up to four years in prison. A spokesperson for the Attorney General told the Daily Mail: “The Attorney General ordered criminal prosecution of the father. “He will be charged with causing death due to recklessness, among other things. “The father will be released, yet he will be subject to strict restrictive conditions, which will aim to ensure his presence at all future hearings.”
