Brit arrested as taxi driver ‘stabbed 16 times & drove himself to police station’ after frenzied ‘knife attack’ in Spain

A BRIT man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed a taxi driver 16 times during a frenzied knife attack in Spain. The cabbie suffered wounds to his hands, arms, neck and shoulder in the horror assault at an industrial park in Seville. Police tracked down the suspect and recovered the weapon after the cabbie drove to a local station covered in blood. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! The accused Brit is understood to have asked the taxi driver to take him to a shopping centre called Los Arcos. He then told him to take him to an industrial estate where the stabbing occurred at around 2am. After becoming suspicious of his passenger’s intentions, the cabbie reportedly refused to take him any further. The knifeman reacted by stabbing the driver victim in an attack “lasting several minutes”. Cops recovered the weapon’s snapped handle in the taxi and found the blade elsewhere after the suspect attempted to ditch it. A spokesman for Seville’s emergency response unit confirmed the incident, saying that an officer was able to treat the driver at the station. Minutes later, the alleged perpetrator was arrested and is said to have put up a “strong resistance.” The National Police have launched an investigation into the stabbing. Seville mayor Jose Luis Sanz said on X: “Thanks to our great Local Police for providing crucial assistance to this injured taxi driver, an act that I strongly condemn. “My support goes to the dear taxi driver, whose professionalism and skill in those moments I applaud. “A hug, likewise, to all his colleagues in the profession.” The unnamed Brit is expected to face an attempted murder charge. He will appear before a judge who will have to decide whether to release him on bail or remand him in custody by Monday at the latest. It was not immediately clear this evening if he was on holiday in Seville or lived in the area. Although he remains in hospital the taxi driver’s life is not understood to be in danger. The Sevillian Taxi Union have since complained about the lack of police presence protecting them in the city. They have urged the City Council to “take action on the matter” saying the shortage of officers puts them at risk and is “even more evident during nighttime hours”. Comment now
