His older sister Cassie has been pleading for help online after he vanished, stressing that he is a 'very strong swimmer' and even though he had a few drinks, his cousin was sure he was not drunk. Julian Amaral, from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, has not been seen since around 11.30pm on Tuesday, September 1 The holidaymaker had been attending an all-white-dress-code youth-oriented music and boat event featuring genres like Afro house and Afrobeat with his cousin Portuguese Maritime police are now conducting a search of the Tagus River near Vasco da Gama Bridge for JulianAnother relative told a UK paper in the aftermath of the mystery disappearance she feared Julian had been kidnapped.A security guard on board the boat where the party took place was said to have told police he saw the missing man leaving the vessel just after midnight on Wednesday when it docked at Rocha Conde de Obidos, a historic maritime station and scenic viewpoint located in Lisbon's Alcantara area.Conflicting information pointed to him vanishing after telling his cousin he was going to the toilet and making his way down to the urinal in the basement of the boat around 11.25pm on Tuesday.Overnight respected Portuguese daily Correio da Manha claimed police had obtained CCTV images showing Julian 'falling into the Tagus River' where the Vida de Jovem Boat Party took place.The newspaper said the Brit had 'left the boat moments earlier.'Maritime Police spokesman Ricardo Sa Granja admitted late yesterday, without confirming the existence of the CCTV footage: 'Today, the strongest indications are that he may have fallen into the water.'On Thursday what was thought was that the young man had abandoned the vessel.'Police divers were mobilised to assist with the search yesterday, focusing initially on the maritime station where the boat docked before being extended to a wider area.Drones and an air force helicopter have also been used.Portugal's National Maritime Authority said in an update overnight ahead of the resumption of the search operation today: 'The search for the 23-year-old young man who disappeared on Wednesday, September 2, at Alcantara Dock, was suspended without him having been found.'The search operations, coordinated by the Port Captain and Local Commander of the Lisbon Maritime Police, involved members of the Maritime Police Forensic Diving and Underwater Operations Group, at Alcantara Dock, and the Local Command of the Lisbon Maritime Police, with drone support, and an aircraft from the Portuguese Air Force, between the Vasco da Gama Bridge and Alges.'The search was suspended at the beginning of yesterday evening and will resume this morning [Saturday].'Julian's sister Cassie admitted after posting an appeal on social media earlier this week: 'My heart is in bits. Just want my brother home.'In her appeal for information she said: 'Hi, my brother Julian has gone missing after a boat party from Lisbon.'We believe he may have lost his phone but he was last seen getting off at Rocha Conde de Obidos.He doesn't know Lisbon at all, let alone Portugal, and doesn't speak Portuguese. So if anyone sees him please do drop me a message.'Police have been informed and are looking for him too.'Dania Silva, the partner of Julian's cousin, added in a separate message online: 'I would like to ask for your help in finding Julian.'He is only 23 years old, only speaks English, came on holiday with his family, and went out with his cousin to a party on a boat on Tuesday night near the Docks.'The party took place between 6pm and midnight and according to the sailors Julian left the boat, but the cousin he went with knows that he would never have gone home without him because he does not know Lisbon and because of the close relationship they have.'Julian disappeared between midnight and 12.15am on Wednesday, he was wearing a white T-shirt and dark grey long shorts.'Apparently no one saw anything, so I appeal once again, please share. Help us find Julian. No father or mother deserves to go through this.'Another sister Jennifer said yesterday in an emotional appeal: 'If you know me you know Julian has always been my baby. Julian's family have been issuing a series of emptional appeals to help find their missing brother'He is the brother I laugh with, vibe to music with, definitely tell off the most lol, but also the brother that would do a two-hour journey to look after his niece because I'm sick.'He's the brother that calls me for advice or to tell his secrets too.'He's the brother that annoys me one second then we're hugging and laughing the next.'He's the brother that stays up with me when I can't sleep, until I fall asleep. Julian is so important to so many but especially to me.
