Brigitte Macron's daughter has struck up a relationship with a student 20 years younger than her, in an echo of her mother's marriage to France's president. Tiphaine Auzière, 42, shared a video on Instagram showing off her relationship with 22-year-old business student Antoine Lecomte. The couple highlighted moments of their trip to Amsterdam in the clip. According to Gala, a French magazine, the pair met at Le Touquet, a beach town on France's Opal Coast, over the summer. Mr Lecomte was working there as a kitesurfing instructor, and taught Ms Auzière how to use an e-foil – a type of electric surfboard. A close friend of the president's stepdaughter told the magazine: 'It was immediately obvious between them. They have a lot in common: a love of Le Touquet and thrills, but also travel and entrepreneurship.'It also reported that the lawyer and politician had introduced Mr Lecomte to her two children, 12-year-old Élise and Aurèle, who is ten. Their relationship is remarkably similar to the one between Brigitte, 73, and Emmanuel Macron, 48, which has a gap of 25 years. But unlike Mr Lecomte, Macron was just 15. On top of this, he was a student at La Providence, a private school in Amiens, northern France, where she taught. She was also a 39-year-old mother-of-three who was married to banker André-Louis Auzière when they began their affair.Macron's parents removed him from the school once the relationship came to light. His mother, Francoise Nogues-Macron told Anne Fulda, who penned the book Emmanuel Macron: A Perfect Young Man: 'We just couldn’t believe it. What is clear is that when Emmanuel met Brigitte, we couldn’t just say, "That’s great".'She added: 'What mattered to me was not the fact he was having a relationship with Brigitte but that he was alive and there weren’t any problems.'Macron's father, Jean-Michel Macron, meanwhile said he 'almost fell off his chair' upon hearing the news.Ms Auzière was just nine when the affair between Emmanuel and Brigitte began. She said in 2018: 'They were quite smitten and it was quite obvious between them and very difficult.'Despite this, she said of their relationship: 'If I have to give a vision of love, it’s Emmanuel and Mummy. When they are together, it is almost as if the world doesn’t exist.'She added that she and her siblings, Sébastien and Laurence, 'suffered as little as possible' when her parents got divorced in 2006. Macron and Brigitte eventually married the following year when he was 29 and she was 54. As he became a stepfather to her three adult children, he reportedly told them at the wedding reception: 'Thanks for accepting us, a not-quite-normal couple.'André-Louis Auzière died in 2019, Tiphaine revealed in late 2020. She said in October of that year: 'My father died, I buried him on December 24 [2019] in the strictest privacy. I adored him, he was a being apart, a nonconformist who valued his anonymity more than anything. He must be respected.'Brigitte is reportedly over the moon about her daughter's new relationship. All that matters to her is her daughter's happiness, so she's very happy to see her thriving.'She'll be delighted to meet Antoine.'Ms Auzière has in the past defended her mother against what she called sexist and ageist attacks against Brigitte. She said in 2017, as she was standing as a parliamentary candidate for her stepfather's La Republique En Marche party: 'I think we cannot remain indifferent to this, and now I do not want to give any importance to people who convey this kind of stuff, because I find it totally outrageous in France in the 21st century to make such attacks'These are attacks that we wouldn’t direct at male politicians or at a man who would accompany a female politician. So I think there’s a lot of jealousy, and that this is very inappropriate.'She added: 'On the ground, on the contrary, I meet people who admire what she does, her work, her involvement. If people have nothing else to do but criticise, let them do it, it will only bring us closer together.'Ms Auzière separated from her former partner, gastroenterologist and hepatologist Antoine Choteau, in January 2025. They had been in a civil partnership since 2010, and chose not to disclose the circumstances of the breakup. But they are still on good terms, despite the end of their relationship. The couple had a home in both Paris and Le Touquet – where she met her new partner.
