Participants in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in the Indian capital have discussed the impact of unjustified unilateral protectionist measures that contravene WTO rules, according to the final statement issued by India that currently chairs BRICS, published by the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "The ministers acknowledged that BRICS members represent a broad diversity of societies and civilizations which are affected differently by unjustified unilateral protectionist measures inconsistent with WTO rules," the document reads. "BRICS should focus on promoting a just and fair, stable and predictable environment for mutually beneficial sustainable development," according to the statement.
