After more than three decades in the newspaper industry, including the past 16 years covering the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder, it was time for me to make a change. This, however, was not a change I ever expected. Like many in Buff Nation, I was devastated when my good friend and colleague, Adam Munsterteiger, passed away on May 19. So many CU fans loved Adam and the exceptional coverage of the Buffs that he provided at BuffStampede for more than 20 years, including the last few months of his life here at On3. While Adam and I covered the Buffs for different media outlets, we became good friends, often went out to eat together in Boulder, met up for dinner or to check out the sites on a road trip, and collaborated for many years on analysis videos to talk about CU football. Shortly after Adam passed, numerous people reached out to me to offer condolences. Often, they would tell me they associated me and Adam together – and I’m proud of that. Covering CU with Adam was awesome, and since he passed, I’ve often wondered what it would be like to do this without him. I also wondered how On3 would be able to find someone to replace Adam, who was so highly respected in our profession. On June 14, Adam’s wife, Liz, texted me, “Is there any chance you would want to take the On3 position?” Up to that point, I had never thought about me being the one to replace Adam. I gave it some thought and told her I’d entertain the idea. Shortly after that, On3 approached me about the opportunity. In numerous conversations with my wife, Liz and those at On3, it became clear to me that this was the move I needed to make. So, today I embark on a new journey with On3 and I do so with desire to carry on the legacy of my late, great friend. Buff Nation, I’m excited to get going, especially with preseason camp just around the corner! As I start the journey with On3, it comes with a rebranding of the Colorado site. Adam not only owned BuffStampede, but he was synonymous with that name and it’s only fitting that Liz keeps that branding as I start fresh. So, fans, welcome to BuffBlitz! While the name has changed, I can promise this will be the place for Buff fans to go for the latest news with CU athletics. Many of you subscribed because you either loved CU, Adam or both, and I hope you’ll stick with me and urge other fans to join, as well. Certainly, I’ll do things differently from Adam, but you’re still going to get full coverage on recruiting, CU football and Buffs men’s basketball. There will be some coverage of the CU women’s basketball team, as well, because I know JR Payne’s squad has a great group of fans. While it may be a bit different, I can assure you all that this site will be loaded with content covering the Buffs, and I look forward to engaging with fans even more than before on the message boards and, hopefully, at CU events in the future. Filling Adam’s shoes won’t be easy. He was a legend and one of the best people I knew. But, I am honored to be in this new role and carry on his legacy, and I am excited to join the team at On3, where we will bring you the very best in Colorado Buffaloes coverage. Sko Buffs!!
