It was a historically tough weekend for ranked teams, as eight Top 25 teams lost, including five Top 7 teams. After the dust cleared, I moved Miami up to No. 1 on my Associated Press ballot, followed by No. 2 BYU and previously No. 1-ranked Georgia. New teams on my ballot this week: Florida, Northwestern and New Mexico. My AP Top 25 ballot after Week 7. 1. Miami (6-0) It wasn’t easy, but the Hurricanes survived Saturday’s upset carnage, outlasting Florida State 43-35 in double overtime. WR Malachi Toney had 11 catches for 154 yards and Daylyn Upshaw added four for 91 yards. QB Darian Mensah threw for 326 yards and three TDs and an interception, his first of the season. 2. BYU (6-0) The Cougars upset Notre Dame 28-24, holding on down the stretch after building a 21-10 halftime lead. QB Bear Bachmeier threw the go-ahead touchdown pass with 1:47 remaining as the Cougars remained undefeated. Bachmeier added 45 yards rushing and also caught a 15-yard touchdown. Preston Rex had a team-high 66 yards rushing. 3. Georgia (6-1) The Bulldogs lost to Auburn 24-21, ending a 53-game winning streak against unranked teams. It was the nation’s longest current streak. Georgia QB Gunner Stockton threw 272 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions and lost a costly fumble that set up Auburn’s game-winning field goal. Georgia had 440 yards and outgained the Tigers by nearly 100 yards, but couldn’t overcome three turnovers. 4. Ohio State (6-1) The Buckeyes survived in Bloomington, edging Indiana 19-15. Jeremiah Smith had a 38-yard touchdown catch. QB Julian Sayin threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns before leaving with a right arm injury that will keep him out “several weeks,” Coach Ryan Day said. Bo Jackson had a game-high 56 yards rushing on 18 carries. 5. Ole Miss (5-1) Trinidad Chambliss threw for three TDs, leading the Rebels past Missouri 31-3. Chambliss, who also ran for a TD, threw for 241 yards. Running back Kewan Lacy had 122 yards on 16 carries and Makhi Frazier added 101 yards on 15 rushes as Ole Miss rolled up 498 yards of total offense. 6. QB Josh Hoover threw for 296 yards and a touchdown, but a potential game-winning TD to Nick Marsh was out of bounds in the final minute. WR Charlie Becker carried Indiana’s offense with 165 yards on nine receptions. 10.
