After the actor took a leave of absence from the spotlight for many years, Fraser has since entered a new chapter of his career, one that led to the star winning the Best Actor Oscar for his nuanced and emotional performance in 2022's The Whale. After starring in many high-profile projects over the last few years, like Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon, Fraser is finally going back to his hit adventure franchise. The Mummy 4 set photos shared by Page Six reveal Fraser's return as Rick O'Connell, with the actor having filmed scenes for the adventure movie this Monday in Suffolk, England. The shoot was said to have taken place at a former military base. In the images, Fraser's Rick O'Connell can be seen wearing a black leather jacket and taking off a racing helmet. One of the extras on the scene appears to have a white and red jacket that has on the back "Rick O'Connell Racing." It seems like Rick is the owner of a racing team, and Fraser's adventure hero can be seen driving a silver and red car shaped like a rocket as extras watch on in some of the new The Mummy 4 set photos. Rick O'Connell's new role as a driver is interesting, as it is similar to another recent high-profile project Fraser starred in. That would be the live-action DC TV show Doom Patrol. In the irreverent superhero series, Fraser gave life to Cliff Steele/Robotman. Before the DC hero suffered an accident that made him more of a robot than a human, Steele was a famous NASCAR driver. The Mummy 4 set photos show how the beloved actor continues to pull off that same energy even three years after the final season of Doom Patrol. The first look at Fraser's long-awaited return as Rick O'Connell — the actor last gave life to the character in 2008's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor — comes right after another member of the franchise also returned after an even longer time away. The first The Mummy 4 set photos showcased the return of Rachel Weisz as Evelyn O'Connell. The character could be seen out and about by herself wearing vintage clothes. Weisz's latest movie as Evelyn was 2001's The Mummy Returns. The role was recast with Maria Bello taking over as Evelyn for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, though the change was criticized by fans of the franchise, and thus The Mummy 4 is going back to the original pairing. With the first look at Fraser as Rick and Weisz as Evelyn now out, all that is left is for new set photos to reveal the couple together again, which could come at any time, now that The Mummy 4 is filming.
