This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.More cast members have been added to The Mummy 4, including two actors who have already appeared in the franchise. Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz and John Hannah are all coming back for the next film as Rick O'Connell, Evelyn Carnahan and Jonathan Carnahan, respectively, along with new cast member Michael Johnston, who most recently starred in the horror film Obsession with Inde Navarrette. The Mummy 4 was originally scheduled for a May 2028 theatrical release before Universal moved up the release to October 2027. Deadline reports that Numan Acar is joining the cast of The Mummy 4, while Kevin J. O'Connor and Oded Fehr are reprising the roles of Beni Gabor and Ardeth Bay, respectively. Acar starred on Homeland during seasons 4 and 8 and appeared on shows like Prison Break, Jack Ryan, Legends and Young Sherlock. On the big screen, his credits include 12 Strong, Disney's live-action Aladdin, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Desert Warrior. Details about Acar's character haven't been revealed yet, but O'Connor and Fehr starred in the first of Fraser's Mummy films in 1999. Beni Gabor knew Rick O'Connell from serving in the French Foreign Legion together, but when their paths crossed years later, he went to the dark side as a servant of Imhotep. The movie ended with Beni's death after the city collapsed, so it's unclear in what capacity the character will return in The Mummy 4, whether the death is retroactively being treated as a fake-out or his appearances will come via flashbacks. Ardeth played a prominent role in the Medjai, a secret group of trained warriors, and returned for the first sequel, The Mummy Returns, in 2001. After appearing in The Mummy, O'Connor went on to several other projects, including Van Helsing, There Will Be Blood, The Beast, The Mob Doctor, Chicago P.D., 11.22.63 and Catch-22. Fehr, meanwhile, has appeared in Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Retribution, Charmed, Covert Affairs, The Blacklist and 24: Legacy. More recently, the actor had recurring roles on Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and Your Friends & Neighbors, and starred on House of David. Stephen Sommers directed the first two Mummy films, with Rob Cohen taking over for 2008's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Now Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for their production company Radio Silence, have taken over directorial duties for The Mummy 4 after helming Ready or Not, Scream, Scream VI, Abigail and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. David Coggeshall wrote the script, and Fraser, Sean Daniel, William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, Clayton Townsend and Jason F. Brown are serving as producers. Not much is known about The Mummy 4 yet, aside from the already announced cast members and the creative team, but filming is expected to get underway this month. The Mummy 4 will be released in theaters on Friday, October 15, 2027.
