After enjoying success on Peacock, Brendan Fraser's Pressure is about to change streaming homes. Inspired by David Haig's 2014 stage play of the same name, Fraser co-leads the World War II thriller as Dwight D. Eisenhower, then a U.S. Army General and Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces, as he brings in Scottish meteorologist Group Captain James Stagg to help finalize plans for D-Day, resulting in a tense 61-hour race to determine the best path. Alongside Fraser, the ensemble Pressure cast includes Ripley's Andrew Scott, The Banshees of Inisherin's Kerry Condon, Based on a True Story's Chris Messina and The Runner's Damian Lewis. Now, nearly five months after the film first hit theaters, Netflix has revealed that Pressure is making its way to the platform next month. The Fraser-led World War II thriller, which garnered widespread acclaim from critics, is set to begin streaming on Netflix on November 30, joining the likes of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Fury and various other major titles joining the streamer next month. In addition to being the six-month mark after its theatrical release, Pressure's upcoming Netflix premiere comes just over five months after the World War II thriller previously made its streaming debut on Peacock, due in part to NBCUniversal-owned Working Title Films being the primary producer on the project. Having also debuted on digital platforms that previous month, the movie enjoyed a very solid run in its first few months of availability, sitting in the Top 5 for three weeks straight. Since its May release, Pressure has proven itself to be one of Fraser's most successful projects amid his career resurgence on the big screen. Critics raved about Haig and co-writer/director Anthony Maras' ability to squeeze every ounce of tension out of the unexplored chapter in WWII history, securing the film an 89% "Certified Fresh" approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Fraser's highest in a leading role since Gods & Monsters, and tying with Rental Family for his second-best Audience score of 95%. ScreenRant's Brandon Zachary was a little more mixed in his 6/10 review of Pressure, but the one thing he did find helped the film stand out among other WWII depictions was the performances from its cast, particularly Fraser and Scott: ...Fraser does a great job at making Eisenhower come across as a man haunted by the potential for disaster (especially after a disastrous training mission), who is left with a short temper as a result. Both characters are able to showcase their resolve without ever losing their humanity, as little flashes of grief or fear creep in at key moments. The result is a dynamic that, at its best, proves that even just waiting to see if it rains can be effective drama. Beyond its previous success, Pressure setting a new streaming home on Netflix comes at the perfect time for fans of Fraser, as he's currently in the process of filming his most-anticipated movie yet with The Mummy: Book of the Dead. The long-awaited sequel to his hit adventure horror franchise will see him reunite with Rachel Weisz, taking back the role of Evy after departing ahead of Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and being replaced by Maria Bello, John Hannah, Oded Fehr and Kevin J. O'Connor. Filming began on the new Mummy movie this past September, with it currently set for an October 15, 2027 release date. What will now be interesting to see is how Pressure's performance on Netflix compares to its run on Peacock four months prior. The former platform has well over 325 million subscribers worldwide, giving it a much bigger platform than the NBCUniversal-owned one, which sits at 48 million as of July. Plus, with his previous Mummy movies frequently appearing on Netflix's global Top 10 charts, it seems clear international audiences remain a big fan of the Oscar winner and will tune in to new releases from the star.
