The elf-like Hylian princess of the kingdom of Hyrule is as much the face of the Nintendo franchise as Link, and after first being created by Shigeru Miyamoto back in 1986 for The Legend of Zelda, she has since appeared in many different iterations over the past 40 years. This includes the more recent 'Wilds Duology', consisting of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, as always, players take on the role of Link as he sets out to save Princess Zelda once more. However, for many of us waiting for the day that Zelda will finally have a hands-on role in saving Link, Breath Of The Wild: Zelda's Ballad is the perfect source of inspiration for Nintendo. Breath Of The Wild: Zelda's Ballad is a free-to-download mod for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch. Created by a large team, this mod does exactly what you may think, allowing you to play through the entirety of the game in Zelda's shoes rather than Link's. On top of that, the mod includes the Girly Animation Pack v6.3 and Dialogue and Cutscene-Audio Adjustments v2.0, which means that this mod is a lot more than just a simple reskin as animations, dialogue, and cutscenes have now been adapted to suit Zelda herself. What is perhaps even more exciting is that Breath Of The Wild: Zelda's Ballad was previously a PC-only mod, which is the standard across the modding community. However, it is now available on the Nintendo Switch, which is an incredible achievement, and just goes to show that the future of Switch modding is bright. Luckily, if you are new to Switch modding, the download page for Breath Of The Wild: Zelda's Ballad comes with all the instructions you need. Not only that, but thanks to YouTuber Trollsquad57, we can now see the mod in action on the Nintendo Switch thanks to a brief showcase video. It is clear to see that this mod has been implemented seamlessly, and it is hard to believe that Zelda was not always our protagonist in the beloved open-world RPG. As one user commented, "I'm ready to play BOTW all over again as Zelda." Now, you can do so, and better yet, it will be completely free, giving you the perfect thing to do whilst we wait for more celebrations of The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary.
