A man has been shot dead in Western Sydney in what is believed to be the latest escalation in gangland violence.Emergency services were called to Merrylands West, about 3:15pm after reports a man had been shot in the driveway of a home.The man, believed by police to be in his 30s, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for gunshot wounds but died at the scene.Police were called to a Merrylands West street.
