Police say a driver has been arrested after an allegedly stolen car was involved in a multi-vehicle crash north of Cairns.Police and paramedics were called to the scene on the Smithfield Bypass just before 1:30pm.The Queensland Ambulance Service said multiple patients were being taken to hospital.Police said a male alleged to have been driving a stolen car was taken into custody at Reservoir Road.Officers said he was assisting with investigations.The Smithfield Bypass remains closed in both directions. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and drive with caution.Investigations are ongoing.
