Boys arrested over alleged assault at Adelaide youth detention facility

Two teenagers have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a staff member at the Adelaide Youth Training Centre on Sunday night.SA Police said STAR Group officers attended the centre and arrested the boys, aged 15 and 17, who had allegedly barricaded themselves in a room.Police said the boys, who were allegedly armed with what were described as "makeshift weapons", assaulted a Youth Justice worker "and were causing extensive damage within a section of the centre".The assaulted staff member at the Cavan facility sustained minor injuries, police said.Police were initially called about 8pm and said that STAR Group officers entered the room where the boys were barricaded about 9:55pm.The pair was arrested "without further incident" and charged with aggravated assault, property damage and aggravated affray.They are expected to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court today.
