Boyfriend, 22, accidentally kills girlfriend, 21, while ‘playing’ with revolver – before turning gun on himself

A BOYFRIEND accidentally shot his beloved girlfriend dead while playing with his revolver – before he turned the gun on himself. CloeRae McBrayer, 21, described by her family as “an all-American girl”, was tragically killed in Fairbanks, Alaska, by her 22-year-old boyfriend, Landon Lowrance. Officials said that on September 16 at 9.12pm, a friend of Landon called 911 to say a man had accidentally shot his girlfriend inside a home. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Dispatchers then heard a disturbance in the background of the call. Police said: “The caller attempted to physically intervene when [Landon] obtained another firearm and shot himself. “The caller was interviewed by detectives and is not believed to have been involved in the shootings.” Officers rushed to the scene but unfortunately found CloeRae dead. Landon was found “critically injured” and taken to a local hospital where he sadly died. His death has been confirmed as a suicide. Amanda Hooper told Alaska’s News Source that her daughter CloeRae, born and raised in Alabama, was the “All-American Girl”. She’s bubbly, she wants you to talk to everybody. She would sing, she helped everybody.” CloeRae’s loved ones described her as a “good kid” who “brought joy to everyone” and “loved God first, always.” According to Hooper, her daughter started dating Landon after meeting through mutual friends. She said: “[CloeRae] went up [to Fairbanks] for the weekend one time and then she came back like ‘Mama, he’s a really good guy. “I talked to his mom, she seems like a really good family, and they were talking about getting engaged this weekend and then all this.” Lori Hunt, CloeRae’s older sister said: “We were planning their wedding. “She was free spirited. You know, you couldn’t tell her no.” Hooper extended empathy to Landon’s family saying: “I’m not mad at his parents. It was out of their control, there was nothing that they could do about it. “I’m hurt because I don’t know exactly what happened. I know my daughter loved Landon and I know Landon loved Cloe.” Following her death, an online fundraiser was launched to bring her body back to Alabama for her funeral, with more than $7,000 raised as of Friday. Hooper said: “I feel blessed. “We’re a small community and everybody knows everybody, and something like this tragedy happens and everybody pulls together.” Hooper added that CloeRae had recently been accepted to the University of Alaska Fairbanks to study teaching, with the University offering to cover her travel expenses. Hooper expressed gratitude to the staff members saying: “I appreciate that more than you’ll ever know.” Police are still investigating the events that led up to the tragic shooting.
