Northern Irish police were rushed to the home and found the man dead, and his eight-year-old daughter with serious injuries. The girl was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children after the reported attack, where she is now said to be in a stable condition.Her mother, 48, was also found by police at the property having sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was later released from hospital.Detectives were also granted a court extension of 36 hours to continue questioning the teenage suspect. He has now been charged and is due to appear before Omagh Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.Superintendent Peter Stevenson issued an update at a press conference on Monday, before the boy was charged. A 16-year-old boy has been charged after a man was found dead and a young girl was injured at a house in Dungannon, Northern Ireland A child's trampoline was seen in the back garden as police tape surrounded the gate and door to the property Superintendent Peter Stevenson, Mid Ulster District Commander, pictured outside the police stationThe top officer said: 'Just after 10.55am, we received a report from a member of the public of an ongoing disturbance at a house in the Lisnahull Road area of Dungannon.'Officers arrived a short time later and discovered the body of a man aged 61, his 48-year-old wife, who had sustained non-life threatening injuries, and their severely injured eight-year-old daughter.'Our officers immediately commenced first aid on the woman and girl – and I am in no doubt that their quick-thinking actions gave the young girl a fighting chance of survival. She is now in a stable condition in hospital.'He continued: 'A 16-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He remains in custody at this time. 'Our detectives were last night granted a court extension of a further 36 hours to question this male.'The district commander said that he does not believe there is any wider threat to the public following the attack but that there will be an increased police presence in the area. Superintendent Stevenson added: 'We have a significant number of detectives and local policing officers dedicated to working on this case.'We understand the public interest and concern and will continue to bring updates as our investigation progresses.'
