Published: 12:22 EDT, 9 October 2026 | Updated: 12:33 EDT, 9 October 2026 A 15-year-old boy and his father are fighting for their lives after being stabbed by masked men who stormed their home in a 'completely unprovoked' attack.Armed police rushed to the home in Thurnby, Leicestershire, after reports of the break-in during the early hours of yesterday morning.Two masked men entered the house at around 12.30am and assaulted three people, police said, in a 'violent attack against a family'.The third victim was the boy’s mother, aged in her 40s, who suffered minor injuries to her hand and shoulder. The boy and his father, a man in his 50s, remain in hospital in a life-threatening condition.Three other children who were in the house were not injured.The force said armed officers were deployed to the scene, but the masked men had already fled the area before they arrived.On Friday afternoon, a forensic investigation vehicle could be seen outside the address, which is cordoned off with a police officer standing guard.Detective Inspector Lorna Granville, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said the attack appears to have been 'completely unprovoked' and officers are trying to understand the motive.
