Bournemouth 2 Brentford 2: Kevin Schade nets brace to secure point in four-goal thriller as Bees maintain unbeaten start

But Bournemouth slowly got more possession and five minutes later had their first chance – one that should have been taken. Marcus Tavernier set-up Antonio Silva with a perfect free-kick just eight yards out but the Portuguese defender headed down and wide. And that miss backfired on the hosts on 35 minutes when they gifted the opening goal to the visitors. Adrien Truffert lost possession to Mamadou Sangare. He fed Yehor Yarmoliuk who crossed for Schade to head home off Petrovic’s fingers and the post. And to their credit they responded in style and should have equalised through their Brazilian striker Rayan two minutes later. Justin Kluivert’s angled drive was pushed out by Bees goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to Rayan, who blazed over the bar from 10 yards. But it wasn’t long before the Cherries levelled on 38 minutes and once again it was Kluivert who was making his mark in the box. Rayan did well to find Evanilson who set-up the Dutchman, who turned well and fired into the far corner. Kluivert was in red-hot form and three minutes after the break, his drive was tipped over the bar by Kelleher. And Silva was cursing his luck from Kluivert’s resulting corner when he headed the ball wide again. But then Alex Scott suffered in front of goal when he burst clear onto Evanilson’s pass and somehow managed to slice his shot horribly wide. Marcus Tavernier calmed the nerves when he drove home Evanilson’s pass on 52 minutes to put the Cherries ahead. But Bournemouth cannot hang on to leads these days and they stupidly gifted the visitors their second goal three minutes later. Petrovic, under no pressure, senselessly passed the ball straight to Schade who only had to lob the ball over the embarrassed keeper into the net. The Bees’ luck continued into stoppage time when Cherries substitute Ben Gannon-Doak saw his shot deflected onto the post. Comment now
