Body of missing man, 62, discovered at house as cops arrest man for ‘murder’ & beauty spot trail cordoned off

THE body of a missing man has been discovered inside a property – as cops arrest a man on suspicion of murder and a beauty spot trail is cordoned off. Police had received reports of a missing 62-year-old man from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on Friday evening. South Yorkshire Police said his family are now being supported by specialist officers. The force has now launched a murder probe and a 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He currently remains in police custody. Cops have put three scenes in place while investigations get underway with two currently in place on George Street and another on the TransPennine trial nearby. Detective Chief Inspector Aneela Khalil-Khan, who is currently leading the investigation, said: “This news will be shocking to the local communities, and not something they expect to be waking up to on a Saturday morning. “Our officers have moved fast, and have made an arrest. They are now working hard to determine the circumstances around this tragic incident. Most read in The Sun “Our officers will be around the Worsbrough area of Barnsley throughout the day and into the evening, conducting several lines of enquiries. “This is distressing news, so please stop and talk to them if you have some concerns – they will listen and help where they can.” The force added they had also referred themselves to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) as is “standard protocol” as the man had previously been reported missing.
