BMS discontinues dust haze advisory

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has discontinued its Significant Dust Haze Advisory as Saharan dust concentrations across the island begin to decrease. The BMS said the decline is being driven by an approaching tropical wave, which is moving the plume of dust haze away from Barbados and the region. However, slight to moderate haze is expected to remain across the island and its marine area through today and tonight. The BMS also said satellite observations show another plume of moderate dust haze over the Atlantic, which is expected to affect Barbados from Thursday, August 13, and potentially into the weekend. The discontinuation notice was issued at noon.
