Blink has introduced five new security cameras, including two with extra-long range. The headliner of the launch is the Blink Frontier XR+, a trail camera with a 7,000-foot range that covers "expansive properties" and remote areas. If you have a farm or mansion, there's a good chance you can monitor even the more distant corners. A bundled Sync Module XR+ hub helps you place the camera beyond Wi-Fi range. For everyday users, the Blink Outdoor 2K XR+ covers 'just' 2,700 feet and drops to 1080p at maximum range, but is more practical for reaching past the edge of your driveway or the shed at the end of your backyard. It also comes with the Sync Module XR+ to extend past Wi-Fi coverage. The other new security cameras have their own standout features. The Blink Mini Pan-Tilt 2K+ is the brand's first indoor-and-outdoor cam with its namesake 360-degree panning and 115-degree tilting to follow people and pets. You'll need an optional Camera Outdoor Adapter to take it outside, but you do get common features like night vision and two-way audio. The Blink Mini 4K+, meanwhile, is the company's first 4K camera and captures details other models might miss. It works both indoors and outdoors (including IP65 dust and water resistance), and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 gives you a more reliable connection at full resolution. For nighttime monitoring, the Blink Spotlight Cam 2K+ is the firm's first battery-based spotlight camera. That helps you illuminate would-be burglars without having to run wires into tricky locations. Amazon's newer Ring cameras are typically more advanced, with features like HDR imagery and wider tilting angles on rotating models. However, those can be excessive if you just want alerts for packages or potential break-ins. The Blink models save money that you can spend on additional cameras or other smart home devices.
