Sign in to your ScreenRant account Black Clover is finally getting its second wind, and Asta has waited long enough to earn it. More than five years after episode 170 paused the anime just as the story was getting really serious, Studio Pierrot is bringing the Magic Knights back for the Spade Kingdom Raid. This is the part of the story where Asta, Yuno, Noelle, and the rest of the gang finally have to deal with the Dark Triad head-on, rather than getting another quick villain-of-the-week fight. The new season doesn't have much time to waste, either. The story is heading straight into the rematch against the Dark Triad, with Yami Sukehiro and William Vangeance still caught in the middle of the enemy's plan. Asta also isn't the same loud, magicless kid who was throwing himself at every problem five years ago. His bond with Liebe has changed everything, and Devil Union gives him a fighting chance against enemies operating on a completely different level. And this time, the stakes aren't just about saving the Clover Kingdom from another enemy squad. The Dark Triad's plan to open the gates of the underworld could unleash an army of devils on the human world. After waiting this long for Black Clover to return, the anime has picked one hell of a place to restart. October 3 Premiere Sets The Stage For Black Clover Season 2, Episode 1 Black Clover season 2, episode #1, which officially serves as episode #171 overall, is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 7:00 AM PT. Titled “The War Begins,” the episode will air in Japan later that day at 11:00 PM JST on TV Tokyo and its affiliated networks. For fans in North America, that puts the Japanese broadcast right in the morning, meaning Asta's long-awaited return is basically a breakfast-time event. But standard industry practices suggest the episode will be available with English subtitles roughly 30 to 60 minutes after the initial Japanese television broadcast concludes. The anime will be released across North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS, India, and Southeast Asia. In other words, the Black Bulls are coming back pretty much everywhere at once, even if the exact timing will depend on the region. For now, Crunchyroll is the confirmed international streaming home for Black Clover season 2. However, Netflix is still worth keeping an eye on. The streamer already released the canon movie, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, worldwide in 2023 and has earlier episodes of the anime in several regions. That doesn't mean season 2 is heading to Netflix, but the franchise already has a connection with the streamer. Asta's Devil Union Takes Center Stage In The Explosive Return Of Black Clover Netflix's recent push into major anime is still worth watching, especially after picking up Dragon Ball Super: Beerus for the U.S. However, that does not mean Black Clover is about to leave Crunchyroll. For episode #171, the situation is much simpler: Crunchyroll is the confirmed international home for the October 3 release, while Japan gets the episode first on TV Tokyo and its affiliates. And honestly, the streaming details almost feel secondary once the story itself is considered. “The War Begins” is picking up exactly where Black Clover stopped, with Asta and Liebe training to master Devil Union and Yuno preparing for another shot at Zenon. Yami and William still need to be rescued, while the Dark Triad's plan is moving forward with Morris working to open the gates of the underworld. That leaves Black Clover season 2 episode 1 with a pretty simple job: finally start the fight fans have been waiting years to see animated. The Black Bulls are heading into the Spade Kingdom, the Dark Triad is ready, and Asta has a new form to prove. After five years of waiting, “The War Begins” is a pretty perfect title.
