The 27-year-old Indian lifted a total of 199kg.Bindyarani, who won silver in the women’s 55kg category at the previous Games in Birmingham, could not reproduce that form on a day when Nigeria’s Rafiatu Folashade Lawal was in roaring form and rewriting records. The Indian lifted 83kg, 85kg and 87kg in the snatch, followed by a best of 112kg in the clean & jerk.Lawal, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, dominated the competition from the start and clinched gold with a total lift of 229kg. She was comfortably ahead of the field throughout and broke three records on her way to the title.She lifted 103kg in the snatch, a Commonwealth and Games record, before clearing 126kg in the clean & jerk, a Games record.
