Today, cardmembers have a choice: Earn 4% back in Bilt Cash, in addition to points. That Bilt Cash can be redeemed for points-earning on housing payments, faster points-earning (accelerators) and redemptions on hotel stays or with partners like Blade, Lyft, Walgreens, etc. Skip Bilt Cash and earn ‘up to 1.25x on housing payments’ based on your month’s spending. Bilt is moving everyone over to the second option, however existing cardmembers and those who apply, are approved and accept their card through December 31 can opt in to preserving #1. It’s possible to do better with earning up to 1.25x on housing payments, but for most people doing significant spend on the card (where they’re earning more Bilt Cash than their housing payment would consume) they’ll come out ahead earning Bilt Cash. And of course you can always choose to move over to the new model later if you prefer! You need to proactively choose continuing to earn Bilt Cash, to avoid moving over. Once you actually move over (starting at your card renewal date) it cannot be reversed. I’ve already protected my Bilt Palladium Card (See rates and fees) with the legacy earning structure. This is the card I use for most of my spending. Here’s where you go in the app to do it. Go to your wallet and select your Bilt card. Then either go to your current choice for Bonus Rewards (e.g. “Flexible Bilt Cash”) underneath Your card rewards or go to Manage card and select bonus rewards which is the last option at the bottom. Select ‘your rewards are updating’ which is the top option on the screen. The default, which is already selected, is the new rewards model. Swipe right… Select ‘flexible Bilt Cash’ and hit save. You have until your card renewal date to make this choice, but if you preserve the old earning model you can always make the (irreversible) switch later. I’ve already made my choice.
